Contiform – Intravaginal pessary insert for stress urinary incontinence
Contiform is a reusable intravaginal pessary designed to support bladder control for people with stress urinary incontinence. It is trusted in clinics across Australia and helps manage leaks that occur with coughing, sneezing, laughing, exercise, lifting, or running.
The Contiform Starter Pack (New User Kit) includes all three sizes (Small, Medium and Large), allowing you to find the most comfortable and effective fit before purchasing a single replacement size.
Contiform sits gently inside the vagina (similar to a tampon) and provides support to the urethra, helping reduce the downward pressure that contributes to leakage. It can be worn during the day, during exercise, or for specific activities where leaks tend to occur.
Pelvic floor muscle training remains first-line care for stress urinary incontinence. Contiform can be used alongside pelvic floor exercises as a practical, non-surgical support option.

When Contiform may not be the right choice
Contiform may not be suitable if any of the following apply:
- You are currently pregnant or less than two months postpartum
- You have an active bladder infection or urinary tract infection
- You have a vaginal infection (such as thrush), vaginal soreness, irritation, or broken skin
- You experience constant urinary leakage rather than activity-related leaks
- You intend to use Contiform during penetrative sex
- You have previously had bladder surgery
- You have had vaginal mesh inserted or sling surgery for stress urinary incontinence
- You have a diagnosed condition affecting bladder function
If you use an intrauterine device (IUD), please speak with your doctor before using Contiform. Extra care is required during removal to avoid disturbing the IUD.
If you’re unsure whether Contiform is right for you, we recommend speaking with your pelvic health physiotherapist or GP for personalised advice.
Please note
When you first open your Contiform, you may notice a small opening in the device. This is intentional and part of the design. It allows the Contiform to fold comfortably for insertion and helps maintain normal urine flow once in place.
The opening sits on the inside of the collar to reduce pressure on the bladder neck and lower the risk of urinary obstruction. You may notice it more clearly when the device is folded. This is completely normal and does not affect how well Contiform works.
With regular use, the opening will gradually extend over time. When it reaches the top of the collar, this indicates the device has reached the end of its usable life and should be replaced.
