Here's the honest bit first: plain water is enough for most vulvas, most of the time. But if you prefer to use a wash, or soap and shower gel leave your skin feeling dry, tight or stingy, it makes sense to use one designed for vulval skin. YES® Cleanse is a soap-free foam wash, pH-matched and certified organic. It cleans gently without stripping the skin's natural balance.

The rich foam uses mild plant-based cleansers instead of soap, softened with certified-organic calendula and aloe vera. It rinses clean, leaves no residue, and contains no perfume of any kind. For skin that reacts easily, unfragranced is the safest place to start.

One pump per wash. The 150mL bottle gives you over 200 washes, which works out to about six months of daily use. It's for external use on the vulva only. The vagina is self-cleaning and doesn't need any wash, ever.

Honest answers about YES Cleanse intimate wash: whether you need one at all, what pH-matched means, external use only, why unfragranced is the smart default, and buying in Australia.

Honestly, no. Most people don't. The vagina is self-cleaning, and for the vulva, warm water once or twice a day does the job for most people. A wash like YES Cleanse earns its place when soap, shower gel or fragranced products leave your skin dry, tight or irritated, or when you simply feel cleaner using a wash and want one that's pH-matched and soap-free instead of repurposed body wash. That's the whole pitch. We'd rather you buy it for the right reason.

Healthy vulval and vaginal skin sits at a mildly acidic pH, far more acidic than standard soap, which is alkaline. Washing delicate skin with alkaline products can disturb its natural acid mantle and leave it feeling stripped, dry or itchy. YES Cleanse is formulated to sit close to the natural pH of intimate skin, so it cleans without pushing the skin's chemistry somewhere it doesn't want to be. It's the same principle behind the soap-free washes GPs and dermatologists suggest for sensitive skin, applied specifically to the vulva.

Vulva only. That's the external skin: labia, around the clitoris and the entrance. Nothing should be washed inside the vagina itself, YES Cleanse included. The vagina maintains its own environment and cleans itself with natural discharge. Internal washing or douching disturbs that, and it's consistently linked with more problems, not fewer. Dispense one pump of foam, cleanse the external area gently with your hand, and rinse well.

Yes. Fragrance, even natural fragrance, is one of the most common irritants for vulval skin, and Australian vulval-care guidance consistently recommends avoiding perfumed products in that area. That's why we stock the unfragranced version of YES Cleanse: no perfume of any kind, which makes it the sensible default whether your skin is reactive, you're postpartum, or you're managing irritation. YES does make a rose-scented version, but an unfragranced wash is what a physio would reach for first. Keep the scented products for the rest of you.

YES Cleanse is a gentle cosmetic wash. It doesn't treat or prevent thrush, bacterial vaginosis or any infection, and nothing you wash with will. What it can do is replace harsher soaps and fragranced products, which many people with recurrent irritation are advised to avoid. Use it externally only, and if thrush or BV keeps coming back, that's a conversation for your GP. Recurrent symptoms deserve proper assessment, not a different bottle in the shower.

YES Cleanse has no hormones, parabens or synthetic fragrance, so it's generally a gentle choice through pregnancy and beyond. After a vaginal birth, especially with stitches or grazes, plain warm water is the standard advice while everything heals, and a peri bottle makes that much easier. Check with your midwife or GP before adding any product to healing skin. Once you're healed, the unfragranced foam is a kind option for skin that's still feeling sensitive.
