Sliquid Sassy is the thick one in the Sliquid Naturals range. Same six ingredients as Sliquid H2O, same water base, same clean formula, with a higher concentration of plant cellulose. That single change is what turns a light, fluid lubricant into a gel-textured one that stays where you put it.

What you get for the thickness is padding. A thin formula sits between surfaces for a moment and then absorbs. This one holds a layer of cushion for longer, which is why it suits coating a toy or a dilator before insertion, and why people who find themselves reapplying reach for it. Sliquid describe it as suited to any kind of intimacy, and it works vaginally at pH 4.1 to 4.4.

One deliberate omission worth knowing about: there are no numbing agents in it. Sliquid leave out desensitising ingredients on purpose, because being able to feel what you are doing is how you know to slow down or stop.

Free from glycerin, parabens, propylene glycol, DEA, PEG and sulphates, with no fragrance, flavour or colour. Vegan, cruelty-free and hypoallergenic. Water-soluble with no silicone in it, so it works with every toy material including silicone, and with latex, polyisoprene and polyurethane condoms. From Blossom Pelvic Health, shipped discreetly across Australia. 125ml and 255ml.

It suits you if a thin lubricant disappears before you have finished applying it, if you want more cushion between surfaces, or if you are coating a toy or a dilator and want the lubricant to still be on it when you get there.

It is probably not the one if you want something you cannot feel. This is noticeably present, which is the point of it. Sliquid H2O is the light version of the same formula.

It is also not the one if you want aloe or organic botanicals. Sliquid Organics Natural swaps the water base for organic aloe.

Start with about a ten-cent-coin amount and add more if you want it. Apply to yourself, to your partner, and generously along any toy or device before insertion. The gel texture means it stays on the device on the way rather than being wiped off, so what you put on is what arrives. If it feels dry partway through, a few drops of water bring it back rather than needing a full reapplication. It rinses off with warm water, leaves no film and will not stain.

Size: 125ml and 255ml.

Base: purified water.

Texture: thick gel. Same formula as Sliquid H2O with a higher concentration of plant cellulose, which is the only difference between the two.

Numbing agents: none. No benzocaine, no lidocaine, no desensitising ingredients of any kind.

Condoms: works with latex, polyisoprene and polyurethane.

Toys and devices: no silicone in the formula, so it is safe with silicone as well as glass, stainless steel, ABS plastic and ceramic.

Free from: glycerin, parabens, propylene glycol, DEA, PEG, sulphates, sorbitol, gluten, fragrance, flavouring and artificial colour. No alcohol and no botanical extracts. Vegan and cruelty-free.

Full ingredients: purified water, plant cellulose (from cotton), cyamopsis (guar gum), sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, citric acid. Six in total.

What a thick water based lube does differently

Thin lubricant runs off. That is the whole problem this one solves.

Sassy is Sliquid H2O's formula with more plant cellulose in it. Nothing else changes: same six ingredients, same water base, same pH. What the extra cellulose buys is a texture dense enough to hold a layer of cushion between surfaces instead of absorbing within a few minutes.

Three situations where that matters.

Coating something before insertion. A liquid runs down a toy or a dilator on the way. A gel stays on it, so the surface is still covered when you get there.

Wanting more padding. A thicker layer sits between surfaces for longer, which means less friction and fewer stops.

Reapplying less. More of it stays where you put it, so one application lasts further into the session.

One thing it deliberately leaves out. There are no numbing agents in it. Plenty of thick lubricants include benzocaine or lidocaine, which make things feel easier by making you feel less. Sliquid leave them out on purpose. Discomfort is the signal you use to slow down, add more, or stop, and a product that hides it is working against you.

If this is more body than you want, Sliquid H2O is the same formula at a lighter weight.

Which Sliquid is right for you?

Seven formulas, three real differences: what it's built on, how thick it is, and whether it's safe with your toys. Every figure here is Sliquid's own published data. Silk and Organics Silk both contain silicone, so neither is one to use with silicone toys. Any of the water-based formulas is.

Sliquid Sassy thick water-based lubricant, your questions answered

Everything you need to know about Sliquid Sassy: how the thick formula differs from Sliquid H2O, why there are no numbing agents in it, using it with toys and dilators, and how it behaves with condoms.

Sliquid Sassy is a thick, gel-textured water-based lubricant made from the same six ingredients as Sliquid H2O: purified water, plant cellulose from cotton, cyamopsis (guar gum), sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate and citric acid.

The difference is the amount of plant cellulose. Sassy has more of it, and that is the entire change. No new ingredients, no thickening agent brought in from somewhere else, just more of the thing that was already doing the work. If H2O feels close to nothing, Sassy feels like a layer of gel sitting between surfaces.

What that gets you is padding and staying power. A light formula absorbs within a few minutes and needs topping up. This one holds coverage, which is why it suits coating a toy or a dilator before insertion and why people who are tired of reapplying tend to move to it.

Both are glycerin free, paraben free, pH balanced and safe with every condom and toy material. If you have tried H2O and found it too thin, Sassy is the direct step up without leaving the water-based category.

Yes to both, and it is what most people buy it for. The pH sits at 4.1 to 4.4, inside the normal vaginal range, and the formula has no glycerin, parabens, propylene glycol or fragrance in it.

For dilator and pelvic wand work the thick texture has a specific practical advantage. It coats the device fully and stays on it during insertion rather than being wiped off on the way, which means the surface is still covered when you get there and you stop less often to reapply. Some people much prefer that. Others find the lighter feel of Sliquid H2O more comfortable, and neither preference is wrong.

Because there is no silicone in the formula it is safe with silicone dilators, wands and trainers, as well as glass, stainless steel, ABS plastic and ceramic. Sliquid confirm it is safe with all toy materials.

If you are not sure which texture suits you, H2O and Sassy are the two ends of the same formula, and trying both is a reasonable way to find out.

Yes, and Sliquid single it out as a use this formula suits particularly well. Their own wording is that it is ideal for any kind of intimacy and especially for anal.

The reason is the texture. The anus produces no lubrication of its own, so whatever is there has to be applied, and a thin formula is displaced quickly. Sassy is dense enough to stay at the point of contact rather than running away from it.

Two things about the formula are worth naming here. It contains no numbing agents, which is unusual for a product people reach for in this context and is a deliberate choice by Sliquid rather than an omission. And it is water-soluble, so it works with latex, polyisoprene and polyurethane condoms and with silicone toys, neither of which is true of every option.

The general advice holds regardless of product: use more than you think you need, go slower than you think you need to, and stop if something hurts. Lubricant reduces friction. It does not replace going gently.

No. There is no benzocaine, no lidocaine and no desensitising ingredient of any kind in it, and Sliquid say plainly that they leave them out because they can lead to tissue damage.

That is worth explaining rather than just stating. Discomfort during penetration is information. It tells you that you are going too fast, that there is not enough lubricant, or that you are not relaxed yet. If you numb that, you can keep going past the point where you would otherwise have stopped, and you find out afterwards.

Sassy does the opposite. It reduces friction physically, with a thick layer of gel, and leaves your sensation intact so you can adjust in real time. That is slower and it works better.

If penetration is painful even with plenty of lubricant and a slow approach, that is worth talking to a GP or a physio about rather than something to work around with a product.

The honest answer is that thickness is easy to achieve and the interesting question is what a product uses to achieve it.

A lot of thick lubricants get their body from glycerin, a sugar alcohol that produces a slippery gel feel cheaply. Others use propylene glycol. Both are common, both work, and both are among the ingredients people most often react to. Some thick formulas also carry parabens, fragrance, flavouring or warming and cooling agents, none of which do anything for lubrication.

Sassy gets its texture from more plant cellulose and nothing else. The ingredient list is six items long, which is unusually short for a product with this much body, and it is the same list as the lightest product in the range.

That is the comparison worth making. Not whether one thick lubricant is slipperier than another, which is subjective and hard to measure, but what is in the bottle and whether anything in there is something you would rather avoid. Read the list on whatever you are comparing it to and the answer usually becomes obvious.

Yes to all of it. Sassy is a pure water-based formula, which makes it the most broadly compatible category there is, and Sliquid confirm it is safe with all toy materials and condoms.

Condoms: safe with latex, polyisoprene and polyurethane. The two things that damage latex are oil and silicone, and there is neither in this formula. The thick texture is also useful here, because friction is what breaks condoms and cushioning is what reduces friction.

Toys and devices: safe with silicone, glass, stainless steel, ABS plastic and ceramic. Silicone and hybrid lubricants can leave silicone toys tacky over time. A water-based formula cannot do that, so your silicone dilators, wands, trainers and vibrators stay as they are however often you use it.

The practical upshot is that you do not have to think about pairings. One bottle works with everything you own.

Use a generous amount. A ten-cent-coin amount is a sensible starting point, and it is easier to add than to take away.

Apply to yourself, to your partner, and along any toy or device before insertion. Because it is thick it will stay on the device rather than running down it, so what you put on is what arrives. If you are using it for anal, use more than you think you need, because under-lubricating is the most common cause of discomfort there and the cost of using too much is only that you used too much.

If it starts to feel dry partway through, add a few drops of water rather than more product. Water-based formulas absorb over time and reactivate rather than needing to be replaced. A damp hand is usually enough.

If you are reapplying constantly even with water, that is a signal that a hybrid formula like Sliquid Silk would suit the job better, rather than a signal to keep adding more of this.

No to both. Sassy is a pure water-based formula. It washes out of fabric with water and leaves nothing behind on skin or devices.

This is one of the real practical advantages of staying water-based. Silicone lubricants leave a slick that needs soap to shift off sheets. Oil-based products, including coconut oil, can permanently mark bedding and are difficult to wash out. Sassy does neither, and it is unscented and uncoloured, so there is no residual smell or mark either.

For devices, warm water is enough on its own. You can follow with a mild unscented cleanser if you prefer, but the lubricant will not bind to the surface and does not need anything special to remove.
