Gentle, beginner-friendly vaginal dilators to build comfort and confidence

If you’re just starting vaginal dilator therapy, the Dr. Laura Berman Alena™ Set is a beautifully gentle place to begin. These soft silicone vaginal dilators are designed to help reduce discomfort with insertion, support pelvic floor rehabilitation, and gradually increase vaginal comfort - whether you're navigating changes from menopause, post-surgical recovery, or pelvic floor tension.

What makes this set different?
The Alena™ 3-piece set features the same three small sizes included in the Inspire 5-Piece Vaginal Dilator Set. It’s ideal for those needing a gentle starting point - especially if you experience pain with tampons, pelvic exams, or intimacy. If you’re not ready for the larger sizes in the Inspire range, the Alena set gives you the flexibility to begin small and progress gradually.

What’s included:

  • Small: 7.5cm (L) x 1.25cm (W)

  • Medium: 9cm (L) x 2cm (W)

  • Large: 10.75cm (L) x 2cm (W)

Each dilator is ergonomically curved for comfort and includes an easy-grip finger loop for better control and safe retrieval. Made from soft, body-safe silicone that’s waterproof and easy to clean.

Key Features:

  • Three gentle, graduated sizes - start small and progress gradually
  • Equivalent to the smallest three dilators in the Inspire 5-piece set
  • Soft, smooth silicone that’s phthalate-free and body-safe
  •  Ergonomic curve and retrieval loop for easy, comfortable use
  • Waterproof and easy to clean

Tip: Pair with a water-based lubricant.

This set is ideal if you're looking for a smaller, simpler way to begin vaginal dilator therapy without committing to a full set.

What is a Dilator?

A dilator is a medical device that gradually increases in size and is used to stretch or widen a body opening. In pelvic floor rehabilitation, dilators are specifically designed to gently expand the vaginal opening. They are typically made of smooth, flexible materials like silicone or glass.

By gradually introducing dilators of increasing size, individuals can gradually desensitize their pelvic floor muscles and improve vaginal tolerance. It's important to use dilators under the guidance of a healthcare professional to ensure proper technique and address any concerns.

As women get older, the vagina can become narrower and drier, which can make sex uncomfortable.

Vulvodynia

This is a condition where the outside of the vagina feels sore or burning.

Vestibulodynia

This is when the area near the opening of the vagina is sensitive or painful, especially when something touches it.

Post Perineal Tear

Dilators can be used to help with tissue healing and to improve scar mobility after a perineal tear.

Vaginal changes or pain after radiation treatment,post-surgery for gender affirming surgery

Radiation therapy or surgery can sometimes damage the vagina, causing it to become narrower or more sensitive

Vaginal stenosis and vaginal atrophy as a result of menopause
